During October long weekend, BTT members and families came together with Harvard Table Tennis Club members for training, meals, campus touring and team bonding together.
First BTT went around Harvard visiting various areas such as the big courtyard, the iconic John Harvard Statue and the large Harvard Library. After that they went to visit the Harvard Museum of Natural History. The museum was packed with thousands of artifacts and items like fossils, minerals, realistic animal figures, glass flowers and many other artifacts. Everybody was able to learn more about the world and its past. It also gave the players a chance to explore and learn something outside of table tennis.
After touring the campus and visiting the museum the young students/aspiring athletes had the chance to train alongside high level college athletes. They got to learn new techniques and refine their skills. First they warmed up before moving on to basic drills like 2 forehands and 2 backhands. After the training they played some brief matches where the younger players were challenged to perform under high pressure and compete against Harvard Table Tennis players and even some fellow BTT players. After the BTT and HTT training session everybody went out for dinner where athletes, parents, and students were able to talk with each other and get to know each other better. They discussed things about table tennis and outside of table tennis too like college. They connected and Harvard students were able to share insight and experience with the younger students about college life and table tennis.
Overall, the experience was incredible and players were able to learn a lot not only about table tennis but also about college life and prestigious schools like Harvard and MIT. Members were able to play table tennis, make new connections and learn more about college life.
