On October 14th, BTT members organized an experience-sharing event at the Whippany location of MatchpointTTC for the Joola 26th Annual North American Team Championships (NATT). This tournament is a USATT-sanctioned 4-star event, taking place at the Gaylord National Resort in Washington, DC in November, for the eighth consecutive year. The three-day competition attracts players from across the United States and around the globe, providing a unique opportunity for participants to connect and learn new techniques within the broader table tennis community. Unlike the typically individual-focused nature of the sport in the US, this tournament emphasizes a team component, fostering collaboration and friendship among players.
There are a total of 30 players from MatchpointTTC participating this year. They were divided into 10 teams based on their ratings and the results of the pre-selection tournament held on October 3rd, hosted by MatchpointTTC. After MatchpointTTC head Coach Li announced this year’s team decision, eight BTT members shared their previous experience and featured a total of eight discussion topics, including Game Overview, Game Rules, Team Captain Responsibilities, Team Member Responsibilities, Additional Tips, Thursday Games, Friday Games, and Weekend Games.
This event marked the first opportunity since 2019 for MatchpointTTC players to exchange insights and tips with one another on this event. Each member contributed their thoughts and ideas on various topics, fostering a diverse and engaging dialogue with those first time participants this year. The event was facilitated by hosts James Yang and Wynn Zhou, who guided the discussions effectively. Overall, the experience-sharing event highlighted NATT's commitment to fostering the exchange of ideas and strengthening collaboration among table tennis players.
Below are the highlights from each topic prepared and presented by BTT members:
