by BTT
On Friday, May 31st, USA Table Tennis (USATT) unveiled the official roster for the 2024 National Junior Teams following a rigorous two-part trial series held in March at West Monroe, LA, and May at San Jose, CA. Among the talented competitors, Emma Yang, a 5th grader from Collins Elementary School of Livingston NJ, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, securing her place in the final lineup for both the U11G and U13G Junior National Girl Teams. Emma's impressive performance has earned her the 2nd seed position in the U11G National team, granting her the opportunity to represent the USA in international tournaments throughout the upcoming year. Her first international event will be the 2024 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Pan Am Youth Championships, set to take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, this August.
Emma began playing table tennis for fun when she was just six years old. Beyond her passion for this sport, she finds joy in writing, reading, basketball, skateboarding, and crafting in her free time. Emma has also been committed to various community service initiatives, earning recognition with a Silver level President's Volunteer Service Award in 2023-2024. Recently, Emma's dedication and enthusiasm for table tennis led to her nomination as an Honor Member of Behind The Table, a New Jersey-based non-profit organization. Founded by several passionate youth in New Jersey, Behind The Table aims to promote diversity, equality, and inclusion through the sport of table tennis in their community. Emma is thrilled to contribute to the organization's mission and looks forward to making a positive impact.
