From James:
I am not a person that usually follows professional sports, but being at the venue to experience excitement and tension during the MLTT finals was exhilarating. It was very refreshing to see so many people show up at the championship, although the tight seating was definitely less than favorable. Every point had people cheering, supporting their favorite team, and as a member of the crowd I found myself cheering along at times without even meaning to. Many of the points had me leaning at the edge of my seat in anticipation as the two players were engaged in a battle of wits at the table, and I felt the impact of every loss and victory on the people around me. Since it was my first time attending the finals, I wasn't rooting for any team personally, however, I found myself lost in the enthusiasm of the surrounding people as they cheered on and supported their favorite teams and players.
Overall, the layout of the event was very engaging, as I got to glimpse each individual player's style and demeanor during their singles or doubles matches as I prepared myself for the most important and tense show that would be the golden game. The constant commentary and fast facts also helped explain many rules or regulations that I hadn't previously known, or just regular habits of players in the sport. I have really enjoyed my experience with the MLTT events and look forward to attending future events of this nature.
From Emma:
Watching the MLTT finals was an absolute thrill and honor. Every point was like a mini battle, and the energy in the crowd was electric. Fans were on the edge of their seats the entire time! Chants erupted 20 seconds before the point and after the points. You could feel the tension building after every second. Sweat dripped down players faces as their teammates prayed for them to take the win. There was just so much energy! Which I was surprised about because usually table tennis compared to other sports doesn’t really have too much energy and stuff. I was really glad that table tennis was getting the attention it deserved. I could still remember the last and winning point. The second the ball touched the ground the crowd erupted with loud cheers and even some looks of dismay. (but mostly cheering) The match was electric just like the energy the crowd brought. And because of this I know that the MLTT finals would be a day I would never forget.
